Spring Activity – Family Adventure Fun.
Want to get outside with your kids for some fun? Great solution. As the days are warming and the sunshine is beaming from the sky, you want to get OUTSIDE if you’re anything like me! Just going outside in your yard is nice, the kids can free play, but at times it is great to plan something that the whole family can look forward to. It helps break the monotony of feeling “stuck at home” with little ones, or if you have elementary-aged kids, they can get excited and look forward to the event. With minimal planning, you can create a special afternoon that is fun for all ages.
Plan Ahead. Plan a spring activity adventure day. A lot of the fun for kids is the anticipation; adults, too. So, look ahead at the weather, make sure it will be a nice day, and then lock in the date. Let your kids know that your family has a special event on that date. It gives you a good excuse with the kids, “Let’s get this room cleaned up so we are ready for our family adventure day,” etc. Anticipation will build with your kids quite easily; if you act excited, they will mirror your excitement.
Who Should Go? Your entire family can go solo for this activity, or it’s a fun occasion to include another family, grandparents, neighbors, etc.
When Should You Go? You could plan a Family Adventure Day throughout the spring and summer. However, your family could also plan these in the fall and winter, as well. Weekends are great, especially for working parents, but weekday afternoons can also be a fun fit.
Family Adventure Day. There is no set-in-stone way to plan your family adventure day, but here are some examples. The idea is to take something you might do anyway and spice it up a bit. Make it into a fun and special event. Your kids will love it!
*Go to a park. Take a picnic lunch, and don’t forget bottled water.
*Surprise trip to Grandma’s. Secretly pack the kids and go for a surprise weekend to Grandma’s house.
*Camping. You could camp at a lake or set up a tent in your backyard. Pack meals to eat outside. Sleep in your tent with sleeping bags.
*Go fishing at the lake. Pack up for an afternoon and head to a local lake to go fishing. Pack a lunch and snacks, with plenty of bottled water.
The ideas are endless. Sprinkle in some bigger events and then fill in with normal things you want to do with a little added enthusiasm. The key is to act excited about it, and your kids will think it is awesome. I hope your family finds joy in “Family Adventure Days.”
Blessings,
Jeanne
