Feeling Stressed Out & Overwhelmed? We all have those times. Maybe it’s the pace you’re keeping and your depleted of energy, your immune system has taken a beating and you’re just feeling “off” and down. It could be that financial stress is weighing in, with the economy struggling, and many families are feeling the pinch of feeding their families. Not to mention, the time to buy new shoes is approaching as little feet are filling last season’s shoes. Who can believe the price of eggs? There may be health challenges your family faces that are emotionally difficult, too. You may be feeling stretched in all of these areas and more and are overwhelmed. Sometimes, these pressures can feel too much, and bedtime becomes a wrestling match with your pillow rather than a relaxed, peaceful sleep. Everyone has seasons or an occasion of restless sleep because you’re stressed. Here is what gets me through it.
I pray. I am grateful to know God because, for those who don’t, you’re missing out on an intense, intimate relationship. I grew up a Christian, attended Kanakuk summer camps, and just stuck with God throughout my life. I found it a much easier and much more rewarding life to have Jesus as my anchor. I know many people were not raised to know God, and many have had difficult lives and situations that I cannot begin to relate to in any way. But regardless of your situation, personal pain, financial circumstances, health status, children’s relationship, or anything else, God loves you deeply. Maybe it’s been a while for you since you’ve given God a thought, so where do you start? There are many quality churches that teach the Bible, and I’d recommend you give it a try. Sometimes I watch church online, you might give Life.Church (https://www.life.church/ ) a listen to see if it is a good fit for you.
I mentioned before that when I’m stressed out, I pray. And I do. In those times when life is really hard, I lean into God, because frankly, I can’t do it alone, I need Jesus in my life. I look to the Bible for counsel and memorized one of my favorite verses that sometimes I will quietly say it to myself to remind me I don’t have to carry the burdens because God carried it for me. Philippians 4: 6-7 says: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
I pray you find peace in your storm. Blessings, Jeanne

Note: I recommend reading the NKJV Bible, as it’s easy to read yet accurate. We try to buy Bibles at our local Christian bookstore to “shop local. ” However, I am attaching an Amazon link to an NKJV Bible if your family is interested. If you use the Amazon link, you get the same low price, but I receive a small compensation. Thank you for supporting my blog and research in this way.
